BASEBALL
Billy Fashe, So., Saint Andrew's
With two outs in the seventh inning, Billy had the game-winning hit for the Scots against Summit Christian. Fashe finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
TENNIS
Jeremy Delarue, Sr., Boca Raton
Jeremy inished his tennis career at Boca Raton losing to the eventual state doubles champions with teammate Alejandro Gavilanes at the 3A tennis Championships. He was 20-1 in singles including 5-0 in districts, sub-regionals and regionals at the No. 2 spot. In No. 1 doubles, he and Gavilanes were 13-2 overall, including a dramatic 9-8 win against Boca Prep, which led the Bobcats to their first win ever over the Lions.
Alejandro Gavilanes , So., Boca Raton
Alejandro won two matches at the Class 3A state tournament to advance to the semifinals where he lost to the eventual state champion. Only a sophomore, he played at the No. 1 spot for the Bobcats all season and has a very bright future.
BOYS LACROSSE
Michael Lipin, Sr., Saint Andrew's
Michael continued his unselfish play at the FHSAA state lacrosse championships with six assists and three goals in two games as the Scots won their seventh straight state title. Michael led the team with 56 assists for the season and will be attending Yale University in the fall.
TRACK AND FIELD
Albert Wilson, Jr., Port Saint Lucie
Albert placed in the sixth in 110-meter hurdles and triple jump at the state meet and now has won three medals for his career. He would have placed in the 300-meter hurdles as well, but towards the end of the race. He currently has the 31st best time in the nation in the 300 hurdles at 8.07 seconds.
Ruth-Ann Klinglocke, Jr., Palm Beach Central
Ruth-Ann finished eighth in the 100-meter race at the state championships in Winter Park.
Shane McDermott, Jr., Palm Beach Central
Shane, who has verbally committed to the University of Miami on a football scholarship, placed eighth in shotput competition at the Class 4A state championships in Winter Park.
Seminole Ridge girls 4x100-meter relay team
Team members Tamirah Bonaby (Sr.), Marqushia Stallworth (Jr.), Erin McCoy (Sr.), and Precious Johnson finished fifth in the Class 4A state championships in a time of 48.24. The foursome was also conference, county and district champions this season.
Mallory Johnson, So., South Fork
Mallory placed second in the pole vault competition at the Class 3A state championships in Winter Park with a vault of 10 feet, six inches. This was only her first year pole vaulting, so her season was quite impressive.
